I built stands for 5 to 6 phones out of foam project board. The cables run underneath and all to the charging dock or power strip. I like my phone standing up vertically for wifi reception! I need to buy various length cables so they meet at the same point! Base your cable setup on your charger you plug into!
I personally use Dollar Tree phone charging stands. I then place 5 of these on the top row of a canning riser and 5 more on the lower row. I plan on cutting holes for the lower tier and running the cables directly through the riser. You can then loop the cables and zip tie them before plugging into your power source. I HIGHLY recommend always having a decent sized bag of zip ties handy. They're life savers.
